Polynesian Cultural Center

Our lovely outfits. M,W,F is blue and Tue, Thurs, Sat is red we've got to remember that so we don't get in trouble...again.
This is the Ali'i Luau, I couldn't fit it all in one picture. If you enlarge this picture and look on the ground there's a grey tarp which has a cooked pig underneath it. They roast one everyday! The pre-roasted pigs get to eat everyone's leftovers. Yum!

Unemployed

My blog is going to get very boring with no pictures. No luck yet with jobs, we will be able to get one for sure once spring term ends. For now we have more spare time than we know what to do with. We're going to buy bus passes for the month of June so we can travel around and see all the sights that we want to but for now it's pretty expensive to pay each time we ride the bus. (Especially when we don't have jobs) We're loving swimming in the ocean, there are lots of sea turtles that swim in the evening close to our house. We got really close to them last night. I'm getting good at cooking in my outdoor kitchen and hope to discover some yummy recipes. Jason is going to suffer milk withdrawls I'm afraid. They charge $8.99 a gallon. Wow We should invest in buying a cow.

We're Here!

Jason and I are here in Hawaii we are at the BYUH library right now. Sorry mom I can't get my pictures on from here :( We really need to buy a laptop or we'll have to get guest passes until the middle of June. We love it here so far the ocean is amazing, the people are friendly, and the weather is great. It's been a bit stressful trying to figure everything out, like where to buy blankets and a frying pan (the town is VERY small). Our goal for the day is to find ourselves some jobs. It's so beautiful here and we hope to share some pictures soon.

Casa Manana

For the last 2 1/2 years I have worked in the restaurant business. A little over a year was spent as a busser and 2 as a waitress. I have learned a thing or two about human nature and how some people's tickers work. Some are distressing while others are fascinating. I love to watch people! You can learn so much.
1. You can tell alot about a person by the way they treat their waitress.
2. People are hooked on routines, I have about 20 orders memorized (including the "easy ice", no tomatoes, no cheese on the beans, very crispy)
3. If you waitress make sure you have a loving husband who will rub your feet after you've sped walked for 5 hours, and will listen to you lament about the icky man who ate all the food and didn't tip.
4. TIP stands for "To insure prompt service"
5. When you cry (however unvolutarily) people give you lots of money! It's not worth the embarrassment though!
6. Mess ups are yummy
These are just a few things I found at this crazy job. I ate lots of mexican food, earned good money, and wore holes in both my shoes. What an experience!

Tasting Tofu

I've finally decided on a major, Exercise Physiology. I hope to be a trainer either out of my house or at a super cool gym that plays awesome techno/pop music (that's the best for workin' out). My problem is that I need to be in better shape than the those who ask me to help them become healthy so I've been trying to eat healthier and decrease my more substancial areas at the gym (every girl's life story, I know). I've also been reading the Natural Health magazine which I love! In the latest issue they stress the importance of Isoflavonoids found in most soy products. I've always wanted to try Tofu (which is made of soy) so when Jason and I went grocery shopping I grabbed a package and tossed it nonchalantly into the cart. He didn't say anything which I was happy about because I had no idea what it really was. We got home and I made a beautiful salad. Jason decided on a sandwich instead. We sat down to watch a movie and I dived into my magnificent dinner..... I was SO glad the lights were off and I could lie when Jason asked if it was yummy. TOFU IS GROSS!!! I'm so sad! I should haved cooked it differently, I'll try again someday. Why can't all the really beneficial foods taste better?

BYU Hawaii!

We decided that going to one BYU wasn't enough for us, just so happened that there is another located on the beautiful island of Oahu. We didn't expect to get accepted but everything worked out perfect we got our tickets for super cheap and found an amazing house 1 mile away from the school. We are SO excited and are trying to stay focused on finishing this semester of school. We will only be there for the summer term since we have BYU-I in the fall. We figure it's now or never. Hawaii here we come! ALOHA!

The First Year

Jason and I got married on March 6, 2007 a year ago tomorrow! Hurray! We are both in our last semester at Eastern Arizona College. We live in the smallest, most ghetto house ever! It's cheap and somewhat clean so we try not to complain. We decided that being married really beats the dating life and we love to discuss the many reasons why, whenever we discover another one. We are moving to Idaho in September to go to BYU there.
